Andy's Projects

Music

Open Music Book

I'm looking to collaborate with some music teachers and savvy web programmers to create a website that serves as an open source database of user created and submitted musical exercises, studies, and literature.

Read more about it here.

Student Leadership

Last summer I designed and developed a plan and materials for a marching band student leadership retreat. You can download the generic workbook that I created here. Please feel free to use it - customize it to your liking and needs.

If you have any questions or would like to work with me to customize this, create new materials, or find additional materials for student leadership, contact me.

Music Learning Theory

I'm always interested in talking about, sharing ideas, and researching Edwin Gordon's "Music Learning Theory" (MLT). You can read more about MLT here.

Lesson plans and writings coming soon!

Sports/Leisure

Pelotonia

Currently, I am training and raising money for Pelotonia. You can read more about why I am doing the event on my Pelotonia page. PLEASE consider getting involved or donate!

Golf

Last summer I somehow turned from a casual-amateur into an avid (-wanting-to-be-competitive) golfer convinced that I can at least win a few local tournaments in a few years, if not make it on the PGA tour. Who knows? I took my handicap from about 15 to 8 last summer and my goal is to bring it down to around 2 or 3 this summer. I also hope to shoot an even par round before the end of August.

Other

Yes, I need an "other" column just to describe all the other projects that I'm currently dabbling in.

Writing

In high school I had an interest in journalism and reporting. I still held on to that interest, but my degree in music education took me away from writing articles to writing research papers and lesson plans. I'm starting to get the itch again and am currently writing on my own blog, am volunteer copy-editing for my fraternity's alumni magainze ("The Sinfonian"), recently had an article/interview published in that fraternity's online alumni newsletter, and would like to write more materials and a book on student/peer leadership.

Start-Ups

I'm in the process of working on ideas for a few business start-ups; some online, some live. I will keep you posted of new projects and ideas as they happen!
